As far as we can tell, ex-girlfriend thinking goes something like this:
Still, there's some logic behind all the cheating, dumping, and general misery.
"It doesn't matter who's right and who's wrong. I'm mad anyway."
People are generally confused about their feelings. That makes them confusing, too.
It's best not to try. Just assume that people in the grip of a strong emotion will act weird.
It's like humans are hard-wired for self-deception. Especially exes.
It's not the logic a Vulcan would recognize, but at least it's internally consistent.
But look out for this type of thinking. It could be an indication that you're better off moving on.
How can you argue with that?
